Although no other food is identified as much with people and country as pasta with the Italians and Italy, in ancient Greece we find the first mention of pasta in 1000 BC, with “LAGANAS” which today is called Lasagna. When the Greeks settled the first colonies in today`s Italy, they took it with them and, thus, it became known there. Moreover, according to the Greek mythology, Hephaestus created a tool that made “strings of dough.” Pasta is a key part of the Mediterranean diet and along with rice and legumes constitute the basis of the Mediterranean diet.
